Every quarter students will complete a technology component for Algebra 2. Students may choose from two options. Technology activities are due at the end of the sixth week each quarter.

Each technology activity will be scored using the 5-scale scoring rubric shown below:
| 4 |
Uses mathematical language
(terms, symbols, signs, and/or representations) that is highly
effective, accurate, and thorough, to describe operations, concepts, and
processes. |
| 3 |
Uses mathematical language
(terms, symbols, signs, and/or representations) that is partially
effective, accurate, and thorough to describe operations, concepts and
processes. |
| 2 |
Uses
mathematical language (terms, symbols, signs and/or representations)
that is minimally effective and accurate, to describe operations,
concepts, and processes. |
| 1 |
An
incorrect response—attempt is made. |
| 0 | Off task, off topic, illegible, blank or insufficient to score. |
Sophomore
students, or students who have not yet passed FCAT for graduation requirements
and are enrolled in Algebra 2 are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the
FCAT Explorer activities. If you plan to utilize this free tool as part of your
technology requirement for the class, you will be given a user name and password
at the beginning of school to open your account at the FCAT Explorer
website. You can find the FCAT Explorer on the Internet at http://www.fcatexplorer.com
Students choosing to use this activity as their technology
component for the quarter must complete one of the mathematics strands found at
the site. These strands are A-Number Sense, B-Measurement, C-Geometry,
D-Algebraic Thinking, and E-Data Analysis & Probability. Your progress
will be recorded and monitored online as part of the Florida Department of
Education's site. Your grade for the strand you choose to practice will be
taken at the end of the 6th week of each quarter.
The technology
activities required for each quarter are posted on this page. In order to
complete each technology component you will need to go to the ExploreLearning
site at: http://www.explorelearning.com/login.cfm
and set up an ExploreLearning account.
Click on Enroll in a Class.
Enter the Class Code that you were given.
Enter the other required information.
Each student will be taken to his or her own Homepage.
Students choosing to use these interactive exploration lessons as part of their technology component for the quarter must complete one of the following GIZMO Activities found at the site. These activities will be made available to your specific class during the first six weeks of any quarter.
Students will need to copy the Exploration Guide that accompanies each of the GIZMO Activities into a Microsoft Word Document. As you complete each question in the Exploration Guide you will need to answer them as required, including making a copy of the screen when a graph is requested or required to verify your findings and discoveries throughout the activity. Upon completion of the activity, e-mail the Word document as an attachment to my school email site at jean.coffman@polk-fl.net . If you do not have access to e-mail, then you may save the document to a 3.5 floppy disc.
All technology
activities are due at the end of the 6th week of each quarter.
